Descrizione

From Piazza Luceoli, which retains the name of the Umbrian-Roman settlement, we are just a few steps away from the two ancient fortifications that mark a key stage in the founding of Cantiano, following the Roman period and the turbulent era of the Early Middle Ages.

Around the year 1000, the Rocca di Colmatrano and the Rocca di Sant’Ubaldo were built; today, a few precious remains stand as a testament to their former splendour, and it was here that Cante Gabrielli settled, the lord who gave his name to the newly founded town, which from that moment onwards served as the impregnable guardian of the Via Flaminia.
