Descrizione
The Civic Archaeological and Palaeontological Museum of Macerata Feltria is an essential cultural institution for anyone wishing to learn more about the history of the ancient settlement of Pitinum Pisaurense and the Montefeltro region.
The museum is housed within the 14th-century Palazzo del Podestà and extends partly into the Civic Tower as well.
It displays a wide range of artefacts spanning the period from prehistory to the Roman era, with a particular focus on the Roman town of Pitinum Pisaurense.
The museum’s eight exhibition rooms offer a detailed historical narrative, from prehistoric flint knapping to artefacts from the Bronze and Iron Ages, right up to the most recent archaeological finds.
Significant artefacts on display include inscriptions, coins and everyday objects from the Roman period, as well as a collection of fossils from the Montefeltro area.
