Descrizione

It is so named because the foundation stone was laid by Emperor Frederick III of Habsburg, who was passing through Pesaro in 1469, Villa Imperiale was built as a ‘place of delight’, although it retained certain features typical of defensive architecture – an ideological legacy of an era in which conflict was ever-present. In the 16th century, it passed into the hands of the Della Rovere family, who had it extended and renovated. The Villa, which is open to visitors from June to September, still amazes today with its imposing structure and splendid green spaces – the Villa Imperiale, the first example of a terraced garden laid out on several levels in the Marche region, commissioned by Eleonora Gonzaga.

The Villa Imperiale, situated in Pesaro, enchants the eye with its majesty and timeless elegance. This 16th-century architectural masterpiece stands as a symbol of prestige and refinement in the heart of the city.

The villa’s main façade, characterised by a series of loggias and porticoes, opens out onto splendid Italian-style gardens, where dancing fountains and ancient sculptures add a touch of magic to the atmosphere. The interiors, adorned with frescoes, stucco work and sumptuous furnishings, tell the story of an era of splendour and power.

Over the centuries, the Villa Imperiale has hosted illustrious figures, including princes, artists and sovereigns, helping to shape the history and culture of the Marche region. Today, open to the public, it remains a place of inspiration and beauty, where the past blends harmoniously with the present, offering timeless emotions to anyone who has the privilege of stepping through its doors.
