Descrizione

In the beating heart of the medieval village of Mombaroccio, inside the historic rooms of the sacristy of the Church of San Marco, is the Museum of Sacred Art. This museum space houses a precious collection of sacred art, including paintings, sculptures, vestments and liturgical furnishings, which tell the spiritual and artistic richness of the community through the centuries. Among the prominent works, there are masterpieces such as the “San Marco Altarpiece” by Federico Barocci, the “Crucifix” by Giovanni Battista Salvi da Sassoferrato, the “Deposition from the Cross” by Taddeo Zuccari, the “Madonna of the Rosary” by Simone Cantarini and “St. Francis in ecstasy” by Guido Reni, works that span a time span ranging from the sixteenth to the seventeenth century.

Founded in 1975, the Museum of Sacred Art is the result of a careful restoration and adaptation of the rooms of the sacristy, transformed into a place where art and faith dialogue in harmony.

In addition to its conservation function, the museum is actively engaged in cultural promotion, organizing a variety of events and activities such as guided tours, educational workshops, conferences and concerts. These events offer visitors the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of the artistic and spiritual heritage preserved in the museum, making the Museum of Sacred Art in Mombaroccio a fundamental point of reference for the cultural life of the village and for those who wish to explore the deepest dimensions of sacred art.
