Descrizione
Inside the sixteenth-century Civic Tower, in the heart of Mombaroccio, there is the Embroidery Museum, guardian of an artisan tradition deeply rooted in the life of the village. This exhibition space collects a varied collection of works ranging from the fifteenth century to the present day, highlighting techniques such as the garter, the running stitch, the open stitch, the filet, the bobbin lace and the tatting stitch. The works, made by the skilled hands of the women of Mombaroccio, include not only decorative pieces but also dresses, wedding trousseaux and sacred vestments, demonstrating the versatility and excellence of this art.
The presence of an active embroidery school in the country testifies to the continuity of this artistic practice, offering visitors the opportunity to appreciate both historicity and innovation in the field of embroidery. The museum, therefore, is not only a celebration of local craftsmanship but also a bridge between past and present, where the ancient art of embroidery continues to be a source of inspiration and cultural identity for Mombaroccio.
